What to expect
First consultation
When we meet for the first time, we will discuss your case history and anything else you wish to share with me. Whilst you are lying down, fully clothed, I will carry out various tests to look for body stress. I do this by only applying a light pressure on your body with my hands. Once I have all the information, any body stress is released by applying light but definite pressure at precise points in specific directions, which will encourage your body to release the body stress. I will work on you while you are on your tummy (prone position) and on your back (supine).
The process is light but precise – the body doesn’t require a forceful stimulus to respond. As a result, the BSR technique may be used across all ages and levels of health from the very young to the elderly.
The process takes between 30 and 45 minutes maximum.
Follow-ups
After the initial three recommended consultations over a two-week period, you may need more sessions to unlock body stress at deeper levels, which may relate to old injuries resurfacing needing to be addressed.
Afterwards, it is important to continue with monthly sessions. In this way, you are maintaining an optimal level of wellbeing doubled up with self-care advice such as posture to ensure that re-appearing stress and tension doesn’t lock into your body.
Increased function, energy
and well-being
As any nerve compression is reduced, you will often experience an almost immediate improvement in communication and organ function. Clients often report that certain conditions that they had not mentioned have cleared up, such as constipation, bladder problems, indigestion, heartburn. Usually the physical changes are accompanied by increased emotional well-being.
As the muscles lock up in layers, like a protective corset, the body’s energy is diverted into holding the muscles in the defensive mode, often resulting in constant tiredness. As the body stress is released, the muscles resume their normal supportive role and more energy is available.
The healing process and self-care
During the course of Body Stress Release care, you can expect to feel physical changes as your body adapts. By practising simple but consistent aftercare you will enable your body to self-heal, to recover more quickly, and maximise the benefits of your BSR session. Putting stress and strain on your body after a session will negate the desired benefits, therefore, rest is optimum. Your body needs time to adjust to the changes that have been made so it’s sensible to adhere to the following:
Avoid strenuous exercise
Keep hydrated
Balance and posture are key
As the energy flow and communication is restored, some people may initially experience sensations of tingling or warmth. In certain cases there may be increased pain for a short time as feeling is restored to numbed nerves - this is normal.
After the releases, pain and stiffness may come and go. This is also a normal part of the recovery process.
